Meet Dechhen:  Happy Father's Day

Dechhen Sherpa's story about her father and The Small World as presented by The Obama Foundation

On this special day, we want to thank all the father figures who have supported The Small World and its children. Your unwavering support continues to empower these girls to become leaders in their communities with your generous contributions representing hope, love, belief, and commitment to education's transformative power. Together, we are truly helping to dissolve societal barriers so that doors of opportunity can open for every girl to thrive.

Even better, each girl who is educated and empowered through The Small World becomes a catalyst for change in her community by inspiring others and, in effect, creating a strong ripple of transformation.

We are humbled and honored to share this from The Obama Foundation's Girls Opportunity Alliance, one of Michelle Obama’s philanthropic organizations. Here Mrs. Obama offers her appreciation of The Small World’s work and the story beautifully presented by Dechhen Sherpa, the ten-year-old daughter of Sonam and Karma Sherpa, The Small World's co-founders. In the video, Dechhen talks about Karma’s story and his influence and work both at home and in the community.

'Bravo' what! Michelle Obama shared on her social media ahead of #fathersday

From the bottom of our hearts, we express our deepest gratitude to every father figure who has stood by The Small World and its mission. This recognition by Michelle Obama and her organization would not have been possible without your generous support, your devoted long-term partnership, and your belief in our mission.

As we move forward, we are excited to continue this rewarding journey together, knowing that with your ongoing support, we can create even greater opportunities for these incredible girls and so many children in need.

Thank you for being the driving force behind their success and for joining us in creating a peaceful, safe, educated, and much better future for every child. Happy Father's Day!

We hope you’ll support girls like Dechhen Sherpa so they may always have the benefits of education and an advantageous future.
