Sanam Sherpa from Small World attended the GAO program organized by The Obama Foundation in Greece in 2023.

The Small World is a not-for-profit charitable organization supporting locally driven sustainable community development projects.

These projects provide not only education for children - especially young girls at risk from exploitation - but also remove traditional barriers to girls' education, create empowerment scenarios for local communities, and ultimately help to end deep-rooted cycles of poverty.

Small World’s mission is to educate, empower, and enable individuals to create positive change in the world.

Paying Forward

Ahead of #FathersDay, Michelle Obama shared on her social media that she is moved by a story from Dechhen about her dad’s efforts to educate girls in Nepal through The Small World, an organization that is part of our Girls Opportunity Alliance program of The Obama Foundation. As Dechhen says, "My dad tells me to dream big, and I do. I’m proud that The Small World is helping girls in Nepal chase their dreams, too."

The Friends of Arhaus Children’s Home

Located in the heart of the Everest region, The Arhaus Children’s Home is a pioneering safe haven for orphaned, abandoned, and highly vulnerable children. Our mission is to provide a nurturing environment for those at risk of trafficking, forced labor, and other serious abuses. Here, every child is given the opportunity to heal, find peace of mind, and grow in a supportive community where they can truly thrive.

Girl's Education in Nepal

Breaking Down the Barriers to Education For Girls

At The Small World, we envision a future where every girl and boy has equal access to education, regardless of their circumstances. To turn this vision into reality and tackle the gender gap in remote villages of Solukhumbu, we have established a pioneering Girls' Dormitory dedicated to higher education. This initiative not only provides a safe and supportive environment for girls but also nurtures their academic growth and personal development. By empowering them with the gift of education, we enable these young women to pursue their dreams and transform their communities.

Seeds of Hope,

Agriculture Support Program

The COVID-19 pandemic has intensified food insecurity in the remote Himalayan villages of Solukhumbhu District, particularly affecting disadvantaged communities, single mothers, and low-income families. In response, The Small World has launched the Seeds of Hope program to promote sustainable agriculture, provide vital education, and empower these communities to build a resilient future.

Sponsor A Child

We believe that to educate a child is to educate the world. In Nepal, the opportunities for a child's education are greatly jeopardized by many factors with children seldom receiving this gift. Our Child Education Sponsorship Program is a great way to help, even for one child’s future.

At The Small World, our Child Education Sponsorship Program is deeply rooted within and bonded to the child's family, school, and community. This framework ensures a positive and supportive background that ripples throughout the children’s lives, benefiting them as well as their relationships.
