Together we can get through this pandemic as a Community
Hello Small World Community! Namaste!
We hope and pray that you, your family, and your friends are healthy and well and will continue to be throughout the whole of this pandemic.
As you would suspect, this pandemic has created a critical situation of austerity and hunger since tourism and the work opportunities it brings has come to a virtual standstill here in Nepal.
We are very happy to report, though, that together with your generous gifts, we have been able to continue relief food support, such as rice, lentils, salt and soap to one hundred and fifty (150) grateful families in Tingla and surrounding communities in our project area - especially trekking porters and their families, day construction workers with lost jobs, single moms, young children, and elderly people. Since most families consist of seven members, on average, over 1,050 people have benefited.
Here’s just one story of how a family was saved from a crisis:
Bina Karki, a mother of five, has such high blood pressure that she is not able to complete many tasks; her husband had sustained injuries after falling from a tree while doing chores and couldn't do any major work afterwards. Their two daughters, age 14 and 12, are doing most of the household chores and taking care of the cows. The other three children, aged between 3-7 years, had been asking their mother why she wasn’t able to feed them enough and she told us she really didn’t know how to answer. After receiving relief support, Bina and her family were very happy and full of gratitude for the help they had received. We asked what their life looks like after lockdown, and after this relief they are more optimistic and moving on to further improve their situation, hoping to find some jobs for the older girl, perhaps working in another firm or home to help the family.
Many stories like this have inspired us to do everything we can to continue our relief support until this lockdown has ended.
And we do need your support! Every little bit helps a great deal. In fact, your gift of just $25.00 can help to provide our relief package to a family for 15 days, and just $50.00 can provide food for a family for a whole month and so on impacting directly.
You can also support by —sharing our project with your friends and family helps us spread the word about our work and continue to grow our community of supporters like you. If you’re willing to share the story of our work with your network, we’d be incredibly grateful.
Namaste! and thank you very much in advance for providing these families with your gift; your generosity will be greatly appreciated and will be a great help to families with little hope during this pandemic..
