Hope Home

Protecting Children from Violence, Exploitation, & Trafficking

The Small World organization founded the Himalayan Hope Home in Kathmandu as a child protection center that serves as a preventative strategy for children at risk. Children belonging to underprivileged communities who are in danger of precarious trafficking circumstances are provided a safe shelter, parental care, love, and every opportunity for their holistic development.

2013, 30 orphaned or abandoned girls of rural Solukhumbu have been residing at Hope Home. Once living in poor conditions all by themselves in pain and agony, these girls now enjoy being part of a true family, sharing love, care, and respect for each other. Everyone goes to a normal school and they are provided with proper health care, a sense of safety, nutrition, and a much needed family environment.

At Hope Home, our goal is to help them realize they can not only dream but also achieve those dreams. Their lives are very precious and so is their childhood. Here is what one girl says about her past:

“Being an orphan felt like a curse to me, I was helpless and had to work in poor conditions to survive.” – Shangita Rai

Today, we are proud to say that Shangita has found a home and has graduated school in 2014. And…this is her second year in college!
