Solukhumbu Cultural Trek

Solukhumbu’s Pikey Peak – A Cultural 14 day Trek

This amazing trip begins in Nepal’s ancient Kingdom of Kathmandu, where we will be visiting some famed historical sites. After two days of acclimatizing in this enchanting city, we take a memorable flight from Kathmandu to the airstrip at Phaplu, providing access to an alpine world where the air is crystal clear and colourful prayer flags flutter from the rooftops.

The name of this particular area is Solu Kumbu (the lower, less traveled, Everest Region) and we’re here for a rigorous trek in the terraced hills deep in the heart of Sherpa Country. We begin with the monasteries with colorful prayer flags, ancient Mani Wall stones with Buddhist inscriptions. From here, “the local hospitality tour begins!”

As we trek through local villages, don’t be surprised if we are invited to have tea with the Head Lama, attend a blessing ceremony just for our group, or eat boiled potatoes in a local’s home. Our main objective will be to climb Pikey Peak at 13,400 ft (no crampons necessary) for an incredible view of Mount Everest and the surrounding Himalayan Mountains. After our trek, we will fly back to Kathmandu from Phaplu.
