One home one toilet Campaign

one-home-one-toiletCan we imagine life without Sanitation?

It’s out of order! 1 in 3 people across the world don’t have somewhere safe to go to the toilet. Poor sanitation is one of the world’s biggest killers: it hits women, children, old and sick people hardest. Every minute, three children under the age of five die because of dirty water and lack of proper sanitation. And, right this minute, around half the people in the world have an illness caused by worst sanitation.

In Nepal, half of young girls who drop out of school do so because the school hasn’t got separate toilets for boys and girls. Not having a safe place to defecate puts people at risk of being bitten by snakes and attack by wild animals as they squat in the grass and bushes makes women and girls a target for sexual assault as they go to the toilet in the open.

Similarly, in rural part of Nepal, where Small World is working, due to the lack of awareness and bad sanitation women ,children and old age people usually get sick from diarrhea, dysentery etc.. which bring big financial crisis in family while taking to hospital walking several days distance from village and many times from uncertain death of family member put in deep sorrow & depression just not having a good sanitation and its proper use in their daily life.

How we can make a difference together?

Providing people with clean water and basic sanitation is one of the most cost-effective ways to release people from poverty: for every $10 spent on water and sanitation, $15 is returned through saved time, increased productivity and reduced health costs.

We are Currently working in Takisndu VDC in Solukhumbu district in Everest region building over 300 toilets  to make Taksindu Village Development Community Open  Defecation Free Area helping to build one home one Toilet for proper Sanitation.  We are running several awareness program in every school teaching about sanitation, group meeting in community members, dream, presentation and providing necessary materials, technical support  and more then that education about its important for proper use of toilet.
