Himalayan Hope Home

The Small World founded the Himalayan Hope Home in Kathmandu as a child protection center and to serve as a preventative strategy for at risk children. Children belonging to underprivileged communities who are vulnerable to precarious trafficking circumstances are provided a safe shelter, parental care, love, and every opportunity for their holistic development.

Since 2013, thirty (30) orphaned/abandoned girls of rural Solukhumbu have been residing at Hope Home. Once living in abusive and poor conditions or all by themselves in pain and agony, these girls now enjoy being part of a true family, sharing love, care, and respect for each other. Everyone goes to normal school and they are provided with proper health care, a sense of safety, nutrition, and a desperately needed family environment

At Hope Home, our goal is to help them realize they cannot only dream but they can also achieve those dreams. Their lives are very precious and so is their childhood. Here is what one girl says about her past:
“Being an orphan seemed/felt like a curse to me, I was helpless and had to work in poor conditions to survive.” – Shangita Rai

Today, we are proud to say that Shangita has found a home and has graduated school in 2014. And…this is her second year in college!

To sponsor a girl for support at the Himalayan Hope Home is $1,200 per year, which covers meals, education, clothing, medical, and a recreational program.
